Description: This course will expand students’ skills and knowledge of various essential Microsoft Office programs and help them become more effective and efficient in their high school and postsecondary studies and in today’s technology-based workforce. In addition, this course will also provide students the opportunity to become highly proficient in the skills and competencies needed to pass the Key Applications exam which is one of three exams required to earn the Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3).

Prerequisites: 10th – 12th grade and successful completion of Fundamentals of Business, Computer Applications, or Tech/Pre-Engineering
Description: The MobileMakersEdu iOS course provides students an opportunity to build and deploy iOS applications using basic programming skills and iOS frameworks. Students learn the basics of object-oriented programming, basic data structures, and a solid understanding of how an iOS app is constructed. Using real-world industry tools and best practices, students create several working applications that grow in complexity throughout the year. Additionally, students learn how to employ Agile Project Management and work in an environment similar to that of a traditional development shop, thus improving their ability to work well under pressure, their time management skills, and their ability to prioritize and delegate work. 1100  Introduction to Computer Programming

Description: This course is an introductory course designed to familiarize students with the general concepts of programming. Students will learn program design and structured programming techniques. Articulates with ECC CIS105.

1105  Web Design

Prerequisites: 10th – 12th grade
Description: This course introduces the basics of creating and publishing web pages on the Internet. Students learn HTML and how to use a WYSIWYG web page editor. Topics include the basic markup codes, linking to other pages, graphics, lists, tables, multimedia, forms, and much more. Students will create their own website. Articulates with ECC CIS147.

1042  Microsoft Word Certification

Prerequisites: 9th – 12th grade
Description: This course teaches the most basic features of Microsoft Word but also delves into advanced tools that all students will find useful. This course is recommended for college, technical college, or world-of-work-bound students as it prepares students not only for future employment in a highly technological society but also provides them with the skills and computing knowledge needed for higher education. In addition, this course provides students the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to test for the Microsoft Office Specialist in Word certification. Earning a Microsoft Office Specialist certification can help students differentiate themselves in today’s competitive job market. Articulates with ECC OAT140 and OAT240.

1043  Microsoft Excel Certification

Prerequisites: 9th – 12th grade
Description: This course teaches the most basic features of Microsoft Excel but also delves into advanced tools that all students will find useful. This course is recommended for college, technical college, or world-of-work-bound students. Upon completion students will be able to: create and edit spreadsheets, format cells, columns, and rows in a professional manner, have the computer analyze and/or calculate numerical data, and prepare data that achieves the goal efficiently and effectively. This course provides students the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to test for the Microsoft Office Specialist in Excel.
